What version of WoW were you testing?
WoW is the only game I’m interested in playing on a mac air. I was curious how it would play on a base version of the laptop (8gb ram, 256gb ssd and no core upgrades) and on low game settings cause you don’t need that high settings in WoW anyway…
But for how long can you play? Will I struggle to play for more than an hour?
Do you think 16 GB is needed or can 8 GM RAM be suffice?

You're running it off of the battery. Plugged in you should get better performance.
I bought my first ever laptop like 6 months ago and it was a €800 hp windows 11, Didn't take me long to switch to a MacBook Air M2 for less, Not interested in gaming anymore but practicality.
Would have been a useful test if conducted full screen…
Actually you absolutely should not go for the upgraded 10core version on the air. It gets hot way faster and in turn because the air doesnt have fans, it'll throttle down significantly. You'll actually see better performance on the base version compared to the upgrade, in the long run.
" Budget " and " GAMING " do not suit the well flow of mac
Funny how title says budget AAA gaming, when the m2 air is literally 2x more expensive than a PS5 or Xbox. If you wanted budget AAA gaming then stick with a console.
Suggestion..!! I do decent AAA gaming and normal production. Which storage variant I should choose 256gb or 512gb!!

I don’t think £1,300 constitutes as budget gaming.
My take away here is if game developers bother to support Apple Silicon and Metal then even a base MBA is more than enough for decent gaming. Maybe not at max settings but games can lower their settings for a reason. Dropping the graphics rendering performance helps the visual realism part of the experience. The actual fun level game play however is typically not impacted as much. It seems like even the base m2 MBA is good enough for a solid 60fps for 100% native games.
As for Crossover I’m more impressed it actually functions. There is so much funky translation being done there I would never expect it to be a stable or effective solution.
Game developers need to start supporting Metal and Apple Silicon and I think gamers and Mac users need to start demanding the support. Developers follow the money and they don’t want to hire a development team to support a handful of sales. If they feel there is a lucrative enough market there that will change.

Good video but there's a few things you should do.
1: Add a second monitor and move your stats to that rather than on the main screen.
2: Do not run games in a window. It decreases their performance by a fair margin and what you're seeing is not true FPS
3: Try active cooling, such as a laptop cooler.

No offence dude but this video doesn’t show anything / help at all.
Instead of showing how the laptop performes on the recommended settings, or actually settings that are playable in the long run (no active cooling), you just max out settings and try to make the Maschine throttle :/.
Nobody cares if u can play games on max settings on the -MacBook Air-, ppl care if they can play a game for more than an hour without burning their fingers and how the game/settings would look like, or if it is playable at all.
For that u should find good settings where u have a stable fps (also u shouldnt deactivate vertical sync, screen is only capable of 60 fps) around 60 fps. (Some ppl are ok with 30 fps on single player)
If u play games a lot especially online, u care more about framerates than graphics. The fps should always be stable, always. (A Granada explosion shouldn’t damage the fps, if it does the settings are too high)
Just show ppl how their game will look like with these settings.
Imagine having a V8 but after 10 miles it turns into a 4 cylinder.

You should test WOW in the new starting zone because Durotar isn’t a proper benchmark for gaming in wow, that zone is ancient.
